is a protected area under the Habitats Directive, which overlaps a protected area under the Birds Directive. It is a plateau with a unique forest of silver-leaved linden and several species of oak with grass communities, in which dozens of rare plant and animal species are found &#8211; from mammals &#8211; Pied polecat and bat &#8211; Long-eared nightjar; amphibians and reptiles &#8211; Red-bellied toad (frog), Dobrudzha newt, Pied dragon, Common pond turtle, Spike-tailed and Spike-bellied turtles, from invertebrates &#8211; beetles &#8211; Common sawfly, Beech sawfly, Horned beetle. The protected area falls\u00a0<strong>on the lands of the town of Tutrakan and the villages of Staro Selo and Shumentsi, Tutrakan municipality with a total area of \u200b\u200b3216.87 ha.<\/strong><br>Between the protected area and the main road Ruse &#8211; Silistra there is a small dam of the same name, where fishing is allowed all year round. In the immediate vicinity of the dam is the recreation area &#8220;Stomnata&#8221;, created in 1981 as part of the celebrations of 1300 years since the founding of the Bulgarian state. A pitcher over 2.5 m high has been built, in the middle of which there is a captured spring with a drinking fountain. Near it is a map of Bulgaria formed with shrubby vegetation and 1300 is written. The symbols are clearly visible from the main road in spring, when the bushes bloom white.<br>The idea is from Eng. Stefan Boyadzhiev, then director of the local road department, who is known in the area for his wonderful plant figures masterfully formed from shrubs.<br>In the immediate vicinity is also an ornithologically important place &#8220;Stenata&#8221;.
