Every year, in the period between Meat and Cheese Lent, Kukerovden is celebrated. Kukers dance to scare away evil spirits and drive away the cold, “beat” with their gags – for health.
For the seventh year, a festival of masquerade games “Dobrudzhanski Kukeri – Varnentsi 2024” is being held.
The goal of the festival is to preserve, revive and popularize the masquerade and Kukeri customs in the Dobrudzhan region. The festival is competitive in nature. Youth and adult Kukeri and Survakar groups from all over the country have the right to participate, and they must present a program lasting up to 20 minutes.
