International Festival “Fiery Danube”:

On 24.08.2000, a River Festival was organized, with a swim across the Danube, a competition for preparing delicious fish soup, deftly overcoming a beam smeared with grease over water, a competition in amateur fishing, drawing on asphalt, a competition for drinking with a Tutrakan boza, and the election of Miss Tutrakan. The festival is organized by the non-governmental organization “Municipal Tourism Association” – Tutrakan (today with the name Transmariska) and the Municipality of Tutrakan and is supported by local businesses, which provide the prize fund for the competitions. The festival has become traditional for Tutrakan.
In 2012, the Association, together with the Sofia Technology Center, developed the concept for the Fiery Danube festival, which builds on the River Festival by focusing on attracting an audience outside the residents of the municipality. The festival becomes a bouquet of different arts – an evening of classical music, opera and ballet, theater, folklore, painting, popular music and rock on the last day are combined with the Danube traditional competitions for the River Festival. Since 2013, the festival has been organized by the Municipality of Tutrakan and is again supported by local businesses.
In recent years, the stage of the Fiery Danube in Tutrakan has been visited by John Lawton and BTR, Ken Hensley, Joe Lynn Turner, the former vocalist of “Deep Purple” and “Rainbow”, the former vocalist of “Judas Priest” Tim Ripper Owens, many popular Bulgarian performers and bands.
